Meet Your Doulas!
Crystal Canfield CD(DONA):
I started my Doula journey in 2014. My passion for the birthing world started when I began researching my wishes for my own birth almost 6 years ago. After the birth of my second daughter, I realized that a doula was such an important part of the birthing team.
I did have a doula for my first birth but didn't think I needed one for my second. I did! I found I needed the reassurance and peace of mind a doula brought to the room. Not that my husband or Midwife didn't provide that, but I craved the moment for someone to tell me, yes you can do this last contraction, yes you can breath your baby out! My third birth, the first thing I did was hire our doula and didn't look back.
I realized that I needed to provide the same support for women that I received for my first birth. So I sought out a school that would help me become a doula. Bastyr University did that for me and I completed that course and instantly signed up for the other required (and some extra) classes for becoming certified thru DONA. I was so lucky to recently help Penny Simkin during one of her amazing Home Birth classes, as well as completing my Placenta encapsulation and Roboze training. I am currently a certified Doula through DONA international!
I am so excited and honored to be apart of the birthing world and to hold hands and space while witnessing families bringing their sweet babies into the world.
I look forward to meeting you and your family as we get ready to welcome your sweet little one earth side.
